24th place in Kitzbühel
I am always looking forward to go to Kitzbühel, not only because of the beautiful area or the nice little town, but also because of our great hotel with one of the most beautiful swimming pools. The 46 meter pool with a pleasant water temperature is in the 7th Floor and has a breathtaking view of Kitzbühel. As we don’t train much before and after the competition, we have some time to relax and enjoy the view.
Although I also used the pool to warm up, my swimming performance was not good. Sarah Mc Larty, an American swimmer, led the field and pulled it in a long change with her incredible speed. I swam at my limit and still exit the water with a minute gap. So I missed the first bike group. But even on the bike, I gave everything and tried together with Nicola Spirig (Switzerland), who almost alone made the leadership, to keep the gap as small as possible. But after the 40 km we were a good 1.5 minutes behind, which I couldn’t make good in the run. So I finished on place 24th and was very disappointed.
But in the evening I was invited to a barbecue at my "fan club". My parents, my brother and his girlfriend, Benedikt, our swimming young talent and Jessica from Canada were preparing a tasty dinner on a hut in the mountains. That was beautiful.
